Diseases of cardiovascular system retain the leading position among the causes of mortality and sickness rate among the adult population of economically advanced countries that allows call them "plague of XX century".
Risk of cardiovascular system diseases increases by the years and reaches its peak to fifth decade of men's life and sixth decade of women's life.
Among the most prevailing cardiovascular diseases are hypertensive disease and coronary heart disease.
Hypertensive disease is increase of blood pressure. Normal blood pressure is 120/80 in mm of mercury. Even small increasing of blood pressure to 140/90 in mm of mercury during long time can result changes of heart and vessels. Increase of blood pressure is a negative factor (risk factor) as regards such threatening for life states as acute myocardial infarction and stroke.
Recent methods of prophylaxis and treatment of arterial hypertension allow stabilize arterial pressure, improve status of patients and decrease risk of vitally dangerous complications. Even if arterial pressure is increased just a little, it is necessary to go to the cardiologist who will help supervise it, prescribe adequate therapy, directed to improvement of "quality" of life, decrease of risk of dangerous complications and longevity.
