After WHO's definition a sterile marriage is a marriage in which in spite of regular sexual life not using the contraceptives, woman does not become pregnant during one year on condition that married couple is at the childbearing age.
Sterile marriage is the special medicine problem because of its dependence on the married couple's health. Sterility is a cause of psychological trouble like an inferiority complex, psychosexual disorders, and instability in family relations. Moreover, there are some facts that nonparous women have genital tumors more frequently than parous women.
There are three general groups of causes for female sterility:
- Tubal factors
- Disturbance of ovulation (maturing of ovule)
- Various gynaecological disorders
Above mentioned causes are concerned with inflammatory diseases of uterus, vagina, tubes and ovaries, endocrine disturbance (disturbance of ovulation) and immunological factors affecting on state of local immunity of female genital organs.
Among a great number of pathogenic organisms of inflammatory process the most insidious are mycoplasma, clamidia, ureaplasma, herpesvitus, cytomegalovirus, gardnerella, trichomonad, kandida, gonococcus, human papilloma virus. Diseases produced by above-listed infections can proceed without acute clinical form; delitescence or subacute processes are also possible.
Each woman, even she has no complaints, should be examined by gynaecologist at least once in a year. Annual examination allows to reveal probable problems and to avoid ill effects. Anonymity is guaranteed.
